On the 6th June 1944, an Allied force of British, American and Canadian troops carried out the largest seaborne invasion in history, landing on the beaches of Normandy in France to begin the liberation of Axis-occupied Europe.

Hundreds gather for D-Day service in Southsea

A memorial service has been taking place in Southsea to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Hundreds of people gathered around the D-Day stone to sing hymns and pray. Among them were veterans, their relatives, and children from nearby schools. Richard Jones reports.
