Police have confirmed that a woman in her late twenties killed in a crash on the M40 was the mother of a newborn baby girl who was airlifted to hospital.
Police were called at 11.20am this morning to reports of a collision on the southbound carriageway of the M40, just before junction 9 between a green Peugeot 406 estate and a red arctic lorry.
The driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her late twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The baby girl, believed to be only a few weeks old and in the rear of the vehicle, was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
