Hundreds of people from across the South East are expected to attend a music festival this weekend to celebrate the life of a teenage girl who died after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The event - 'Megfest' - named after 17 year old Megan Fox will take place today in Lenham, just outside of Maidstone. There will be a number of local live bands performing throughout the day and night, alongside family fun provided by many local businesses and organisations.
Money raised through ticket sales will be going to Megan's Wish List - a charity set up by Megan's family to provide financial support to young people suffering from life changing disabilities and illnesses. More information about the charity can be found online at meganswishlist.com.
Friend of Megan and fundraiser, Becka Townsend told ITV News Meridian "Megan would be so happy that we are able to help other people in her remembrance, she was such a caring loving girl and would always love to help people, I hope she's smiling down on us and are proud of us as we are of her"
Megan was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumour in October 2013. Shortly after celebrating her 17th Birthday in February this year she was re-admitted to Kings College Hospital in London for urgent brain surgery. Sadly less than a month after this procedure the Maidstone teenager lost her battle with cancer on the 13th March 2014.
Around 280 young people are diagnosed with brain tumours every year making it the fourth most common type of cancer in the UK among that age group.
