Grieving parents say a simple test could have saved their newborn baby's life

The parents of a newborn baby who died within hours of being sent home from hospital say a simple test could have saved his life.

Ethan Verrin died at just 33 hours old from an infection which could have been treated at Medway Maritime Hospital - but screening for Group B Strep is not routinely available on the NHS.

Heartbroken parents Samantha and Dale Verrin from Chatham are backing a petition calling for all pregnant mothers to be tested to find out if they are carriers - and an education policy for all healthcare officials to ensure signs of the infection are not missed.
