4 in hospital, A35 in Dorset closed after bike accident

Four people have been injured after a collision on the A35 in Dorset. The A35 is closed in both directions at Puddletown near Dorchester after an accident involving three motorbikes.

It happened on the westbound carriageway between Yellowham Hill and Puddletown. There is queueing traffic while police carry out their accident investigation work between A354 (Puddletown / Blandford turn off) and Cuckoo Lane (Troy town turn off).

The accident happened just 1.30pm. Two air ambulances and the NPAS police helicopter were called to the scene. Two of the injured people - a man and a teenage girl were taken to the Southampton General Hospital. Two men have been taken to Dorset County Hospital.

Dorset Police say the road is likely to be shut into the evening for clean up and investigation work. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area. Diversions are in place from Bere Regis to Wool, the A352 Wareham Road to Dorchester.
