A 45-year-old man has been jailed for 12 years for rape and a number of sex offences against children.

Paul Wells from High Street, Beckley was found guilty by a unanimous jury at Oxford Crown Court in October. He was sentenced yesterday.

Wells had been found guilty of eight offences of sexual activity with a child, one count of rape of a female aged 15 and under and two counts of making indecent photographs of a child.

He will be on the Sex Offenders register for life.

The offences took place in Oxfordshire between 2011 and 2013 and involved two girls aged under 16.

Detective Constable Kelly Gilbert of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit said: “I am so pleased with the outcome of this trial. Finally, Wells is where he belongs and the girls in this case can try to move forward with their lives”.
