Fears of 'environmental vandalism' around Ashdown Forest

A Government demand that thousands of new homes must be built around the Ashdown Forest and other rural areas of Sussex has led to accusations of 'environmental vandalism'.

The Planning Inspectorate - a government agency - has ordered Mid Sussex Council to produce more than a thousand new homes a year for 15 years. But the local authority, backed by a veteran Conservative MP, says the target is "undeliverable".
