Concerns over number of crashes in roadworks

Hundreds of thousands of motorists are suffering long traffic jams because drivers are not taking enough care when driving through roadworks. Many are breaking down because cars are running out of fuel or not being properly maintained. There are also large numbers of crashes because of poor driving.

Figures from Highways England obtained by ITV Meridian reveal there are 200 breakdowns and accidents every month alone in the 16 miles of M3 roadworks between Fleet and the M25.

So now a major campaign is underway to alert drivers of the dangers and the problems they're causing.
