Some Kent & Canterbury Hospital services moved

In a controversial move by the East Kent Hospitals Trust, patients with conditions such as heart attacks, strokes and pneumonia - who would have usually been sent to the Kent & Canterbury Hospital, will be sent to hospitals in Ashford or Margate instead.

The Trust insists it is a temporary measure being brought in because there are not enough permanent consultants to train junior doctors in Canterbury.

However hundreds of residents have taken to the streets worried that the transfer could herald a more permanent change.
