Rail passengers set to benefit from £300m improvements to Brighton to London line

It's one of the busiest and most congested rail lines in the country - but now 300 million pounds is to be spent on improvements to the Brighton to London line to boost the reliability of journeys for hundreds of thousands of passengers.

The emergency cash injection, agreed by the Government, will see work at Balcombe and Crawley - as well as at East Croydon and into London Victoria.

The money will be spent on ageing points, track and signals. Drainage will be improved in key flooding areas, and there will be more teams to respond to urgent problems and fix them.
