A decision over plans to pedestrianise one of Oxford's busiest streets has been referred to the Department for Transport.

Oxford City Council say they want to ban buses from using Queen Street when the Westgate development opens in October.

Both the Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach upheld their objections to the plans at a meeting this afternoon.

They say it will have a 'long-term negative effect' on the city.
