The issues with the Affinity Water supply is predominantly affecting the CT19 postcode.

They promised to provide an update at 17.20 but as of 18.20 there has been nothing new since their website report earlier this afternoon:

Update 15:15

Our repair team have excavated the majority of the damaged pipework, however we have faced delays on site due to cables from other utilities being in close proximity to the water main. This means further dig work will need to be carried out by hand and naturally this takes longer than with a digger.

Our incident support manager is on site liaising with customers affected by flooding, and our team are working hard to contact our most vulnerable customers directly.

We are sorry for the disruption this incident has caused, and we appreciate your continued patience why we complete this tricky repair work.

This message will be updated further after 17:20

If you are in the area but do still have a supply, Affinity Water also advised that residents store some water for drinking in case the supply has to be switched off to complete repairs.

Police attended the scene this morning to assist with traffic cone management.

Residents have reported water officials handing out bottles of water in the affected area.
