An elderly pedestrian has died after being hit by a police car responding to a 999 call in Brighton.
It happened on Edward Street in Kemptown, near the junction with Devonshire Place, just before 1 o'clock this morning.
Eyewitnesses say the two officers involved looked visibly shaken as they tried to resuscitate the man.
Sussex police described it as a 'tragic incident'. The Independent Police Complaints Commission is now investigating, as Tony Green reports.
