Tributes are being paid to a cancer survivor and fundraiser from Maidstone who was killed in a road accident in Mereworth a week ago.

67 year old Suzanne Maclachlan was described as a ‘beacon of hope and strength to all’.

In a moving statement her family said Sue loved people and people loved her:

Battling stage four lung cancer for over three years, she was a beacon of hope and strength to all.

Sue was a spiritualist and a trained healer, who took great pleasure in easing other people’s pain.

Sue loved Zumba and had participated in many Zumbathons to raise money for a number of charities; she had recently raised over £1000 for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust.

She will remain loved and missed by all

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is continuing to appeal for information about the incident, in which Sue's red Peugeot 206 was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van in Malling Road.

A man who had been driving the Transit van also suffered injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit.
