Southern Water faces further backlash after being named the worst performing water company in England and Wales for the fifth year in a row.
The Consumer Council for Water says Southern Water “has a lot more work to do” in order to improve customer satisfaction. Annual figures published by the water watchdog said although Southern Water responded positively to criticism in the past, the pressure to improve performance remains.
The latest figures show that Southern Water reduced written customer complaints by almost 45% in 2016/17. But it was also reported that there was a 54% increase in 'unwanted contacts', where its customers had to pick up the phone in order to resolve an issue.
