Immigration centre boss quits following claims of abuse

The man in charge of Brook House immigration removal centre in Sussex has resigned. Ben Saunders ran the centre for G4S near Gatwick Airport.

The centre has been criticised for its treatment of detainees after a television investigation exposed them being mocked and abused. Nine members of staff were suspended from duty earlier this month.

Also, earlier this month, protestors took to the streets of London to demand the centre's closure.

The Home Office told ITV News Meridian that a new interim director would be appointed on Monday.
