Today marks the final day of The National Trust’s urgent appeal to save the White Cliffs of Dover.

Prompted by fears that the 700,000sqm stretch of land alongside the cliffs would be sold to developers, the charity is desperately seeking donations to protect the iconic British landmark.

The National Trust had hoped to raise the £1 million necessary to purchase the land by Friday 22nd September 2017.

The charity has already secured 90% of the money needed, but hopes that members of the public will help fund the rest.

The campaign has already gained support from wartime ‘forces sweetheart’ Dame Vera Lynn.

The National Trust say by donating £5 they save one square metre of land.
