Margate’s RNLI inshore lifeboat had to be dispatched last night after reports of a person in distress in the sea off Westage-on-Sea.
The lifeboat was tasked by UK Coastguard to assist Kent Police who were responding to a female in distress in the sea at St Mildred’s Bay.
Initially the person could not be located and a search of the shoreline was carried out using searchlight and parachute illuminating flares. The person was subsequently located by the shoreside responders at West Bay. There is no information regarding the person’s condition
