Head coach leaves Sussex after 17 years

Head coach Mark Davis has left Sussex Cricket following a 17-year association with the club.

The South African appears to have paid the price for a disappointing season in which the Hove based side finished fourth in Division Two.

"The squad is very well set for the challenges ahead and I am confident these players will bring silverware to the club. I would like to thank all the players, support staff and coaches who supported me, as well as all the faithful Sussex supporters."

Davis' departure brings to an end a decorated tenure with Sussex in which he helped the team win three County Championship titles.

In a statement, the club added that they "would like to thank Mark for his contribution to Sussex Cricket as a player and coach over the past 17 years".
