Huhne ex-wife pleads not guilty

The former Energy Secretary Chris Huhne has not entered a plea, pending an application to dismiss the charge against him. He appeared at Southwark Crown Court today charged with perverting the course of justice.

Vicky Pryce has pleaded not guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice by taking a speeding penalty for her former husband Chris Huhne.

She appeared at Southwark Crown Court alongside the former Cabinet minister for a plea and case management hearing. She intends to use the defence of marital coercion.

Huhne, from Dutton Lane, Eastleigh, and Pryce, from Crescent Grove, Clapham, south London, did not make eye contact with each other during the hearing.

Former energy secretary Chris Huhne and his ex-wife will appear in court today charged with perverting the course of justice.

Huhne allegedly persuaded his former partner Vicky Pryce to take his penalty points for a speeding offence almost a decade ago.

The 57-year-old, who remains the Lib Dem MP for his home town of Eastleigh in Hampshire, stood down from the Cabinet to fight the claims he wrongly told investigators his wife was driving his car. The pair are due to appear at Southwark Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.
