Police make 152 arrests at Carnival
The Metropolitan Police confirmed this morning they arrested 152 people around the Notting Hill Carnival yesterday. A spokesman said:
This is broadly in line with what we expected. To give you an idea, on Bank Holiday Monday last year we made 172 arrests
Police: 36 held over potential trouble at Notting Hill Carnival
Police confirmed a total of 36 men were detained and later arrested at London's Kings Cross underground station for fear they may cause trouble at the Notting Hill Carnival.
The large group, 19 of whom were aged under 18, was halted around 3.45pm to prevent a "potential breach of the peace," Scotland Yard said.

At least 15 people have been arrested after people stopped a large group in London which they believed was set to cause trouble at the Notting Hill Carnival.
Around 34 were halted around 3.45pm at Kings Cross underground station to prevent a "potential breach of the peace," Scotland Yard said.

Police hoping for peaceful day at Notting Hill Carnival
Police overseeing Europe's biggest street festival, the Notting Hill Carnival, will be hoping for a peaceful conclusion to the celebrations today despite at least two stabbings.
Hundreds of Thousands of revellers will flock to the capital for the carnival's headline day where a parade of floats and brightly-dressed performers will snake through the streets of London.
The festivities on Sunday were largely peaceful but one 20-year-old man was left in a serious but stable condition after being stabbed in the back and buttocks. The Met Police also said a 14-year-old boy was slashed with a sharp object and a 16-year-old girl suffered a superficial leg wound.
An extra 2,000 police officers will be drafted in to support the carnival today, bringing the total to 7,000. Scotland Yard have arrested 96 people so far, mainly for drug and public order offences as well as robbery and assault.
