South Africa's Oscar Pistorius won the men's T44 400m gold on Saturday night in the final athletics event of the Paralympic Games.

Oscar Pistorius has won the men's T44 400m gold, in the final athletics event of the Paralympic Games.

The South African crossed the line in 46.68 secs. The USA's Blake Leeper and David Prince won Silver and Bronze respectively.

Brazil's Alan Oliveria - who had been considered Pistorius' nearest challenger - finished fourth.

Ellie Simmonds father has said his daughter has done "her country proud" after the swimming sensation won a silver medal in the S6 100m freestyle final.

She delivers on the right stage and there's no bigger stage than this. She's done herself, us and her country proud.

Just because she didn't win tonight doesn't mean she hasn't given every ounce of what she's got.
