A public memorial service is being held at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington DC to honour the life of the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong.
Neil Armstrong buried at sea
Neil Amstrong, the first man on the moon, was buried at sea today.
Members of the U.S. Navy ceremonial guard held an American flag over the remains of the Apollo 11 astronaut during the burial at sea service aboard the USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), in the Atlantic Ocean.

Scottish pipers mark roots of Neil Armstrong
A piper marked the Scottish roots of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the Moon, when he played at his memorial service today.

'Fly Me To The Moon' tribute at Neil Armstrong service
Neil Armstrong's memorial service included the Navy hymn "Eternal Father Strong To Save" and the Frank Sinatra standard "Fly Me To The Moon" performed by Grammy-winning jazz performer Diana Krall.
"Fly me to the moon, let me swing among those stars, let me see what spring is like, on Jupiter and Mars," Krall sang as she accompanied herself on a piano.
Neil Armstrong's lunar pilot reads prayer at memorial service
Neil Armstrong's Apollo 11 command module pilot Michael Collins read a prayer at the memorial service today.

Former astronaut: Armstrong 'never stopped dreaming'
Former NASA astronaut Charles F. Bolden, Jr described the moment mission control waited to hear Neil Armstrong's now famous words from the moon.
He saluted "a brave and humble servant who never stopped dreaming, never stopped working to make those dreams a reality."

Captain Eugene A. Cernan, Apollo 17 Mission Commander, said Neil Armstrong was a "world icon, a nation hero of unimaginable proportion, and a legend whose name will live in history long after all here today have been forgotten."
