Double Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah acted as honorary starter today at the Great North Run in Newcastle.
The middle-distance runner cut the ribbon to open the famous race and met competitors as they passed the start line.

He competed in the invitational 2 mile event and completed the race in 8:40:02.
