Schoolgirl Megan Stammers is expected to fly home to the UK today more than a week after she went missing with her 30-year-old maths teacher.

The 15-year-old's mother, Danielle Wilson, is due to travel to Bordeaux to be reunited with her daughter and accompany her back home to Eastbourne, East Sussex, the BBC said.

Jeremy Forrest, Megan's teacher, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of child abduction in Bordeaux after the pair went missing last Friday.

He remains in custody in France and will appear in court on Tuesday.

Megan has spoken to parents on the phone

Sussex Police say members of Megan's family have already spoken to her on the phone.

They also said they have had sightings across Europe all week, but they had four sightings in France, and in particular two in the south-west of France.

The breakthrough apparently came yesterday afternoon when they had a third in the south-west of France, specifically in Bordeaux.

A member of the French public who had seen the French media appeals and got in touch, and from that police were able to locate Megan.

Megan's teacher, Jeremy Forrest, has been arrested under a European arrest warrant. In theory, he should be extradited to Britain where he will appear in a British court fairly soon.
