Wiggins keen to return quickly

The Lancashire Evening Post has quoted the attendant at a petrol forecourt where Bradley Wiggins is thought to have been injured in a collision.

Yasmin Smith says she went to help the Olympic cyclist after the incident:

By the time I got there he had moved to a safer place but was still on the ground and he was in a lot of pain.

He said he thought he had broken his ribs and while a lot of police cars arrived it was about 15 minutes before the ambulance got there by which time he was blue.

Police have not said whether Bradley Wiggins' injuries are serious enough to jeopardise his cycling career.

According to the Lancashire Evening Post, the collision happened at 6pm this evening when a white Astra van pulled out of a petrol station forecourt on Crow Orchard Road.

The Olympic gold medallist Bradley Wiggins is reportedly in hospital after a collision with a van near his home in Wrightington in Chorley, Lancashire.

The cyclist is believed to have broken several ribs and injured his hand and wrist, the Lancashire Evening Post reports.
