An 80-year-old woman has died after she was mowed down in the street by a hit-and-run driver, say police.

Pensioner was in cardiac arrest after hit & run

West Midlands Ambulance service say the 80-year-old woman who was injured in a hit & run in Yardley yesterday (Saturday 16 February) suffered multiple injuries which lead to a cardiac arrest.

“The PTS crew had already commenced CPR when ambulance crews and the medic arrived. The team took over resuscitation efforts, administering advanced life support on the woman at the scene.

“Sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead.

Pensioner dies after hit & run in Birmingham

An 80-year-old woman has died in a hit and run in Birmingham.

She was hit by a car on Coventry Road in the Yardley area of the city at 11:30am on Saturday 16 February.

The driver sped off and a car was found abandoned a few hours later.

The woman was taken to hospital but has since died of her injuries.

A 26-year-old man in in police custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
