Racing pundit John McCririck is recovering in hospital tonight after falling ill at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The 72-year-old complained of feeling unwell during the first day of the Cheltenham Festival and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The veteran broadcaster was expected to be kept in Cheltenham General Hospital overnight for further tests to be carried out, his agent said.

Racing commentator John McCririck has been taken to hospital after collapsing at Cheltenham Racecourse, a friend has told ITV News.

The friend said he will remain in hospital overnight but his condition is not serious.

The wife of the 72-year-old said that the stress of losing his job with Channel 4 may have contributed to today's incident, Telegraph Sport reports.
