Arnold Schwarzenegger has paid tribute to fitness and bodybuilding icon Joe Weider, who died yesterday at the age of 93.
In a statement, Schwarzenegger said: "Today, I lost a dear friend and mentor, and the world lost one its strongest advocates of living a healthy lifestyle.
"Joe Weider was a titan in the fitness industry and one of the kindest men I have ever met."
"When I was a young boy in Austria, his muscle magazines provided me with the inspiration and the blueprint to push myself beyond my limits and imagine a much bigger future."
Fitness and bodybuilding icon Joe Weider died today aged 93, his publicist said.
Weider, who created the Mr Olympia bodybuilding contest and mentored a young Arnold Schwarzenegger, died of heart failure, Charlotte Parker said.
The bodybuilding guru built a magazine empire that included publications such as Muscle and Fitness, Shape and Men's Fitness.
