Police have traced the mother of a young girl who was found abandoned in a pram outside a house late yesterday.
The child, believed to be aged either two or three, was discovered outside an address in Warwick Road in Carlisle, Cumbria, at about 11pm.
A 41-year-old woman from Carlisle has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect, Cumbria Constabulary said.

Cumbria Police are trying to track down a woman believed to be in her mid-Thirties to early-Forties who was reportedly seen ringing the door bell of a property on Warwick Street, Carlisle.
The owners of the property did not recognise the woman and called the police, who found the toddle abandoned in the street soon after.
Police have released the following description of the woman:

She is described as 5ft 5”, aged between mid 30’s to early 40’s, slim to medium build, with brown hair which was tied back.
She was wearing a white round neck top with a lilac coloured cardigan and dark trousers.
Police say a toddler found in an abandoned pram last night had been left on Warwick Road - one Carlisle's busiest roads.
The road provides a link from the town centre to the M6 motorway.

On arrival police officers found an abandoned pram, with a little girl, believed to be age around 3 years inside.
There was no trace of the child’s parents in the immediate area.
