Man bailed over 'actor ear bite'

A 32-year-old man has been granted bail after appearing in court accused of biting off part of Casualty and Game of Thrones actor Clive Mantle's ear at a Travelodge hotel in Newcastle.

A 32-year-old man appeared in court today accused of biting off part of former Casualty actor Clive Mantle's ear.

Philip McGilvray, of Arbroath Grove, Hamilton, Scotland, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court charged with wounding with intent.

McGilvray did not enter a plea and the case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court for a hearing on April 26.

He was granted bail with a series of conditions, one of which bars him from licensed premises.

A man will appear in court today for biting off Casualty and Game of Thrones star Clive Mantle's ear off.

The actor was allegedly attacked for asking a fellow guest at a Travelodge to keep the noise down at 4.30am on Sunday 24 March.

Police and ambulance crews were called after the incident, and the 55-year-old actor underwent surgery to re-attach the severed ear.

32-year-old Philip McGilvray from Scotland, was charged with wounding with intent, and will appear at Newcastle Upon Tyne Magistrates' Court.
