Google's mail and apps are unavailable to some users. The company says it's investigating the problems, but doesn't know their cause.

Google: some services have been restored

Google engineers say they have restored Google Mail and Google Drive to most users but that they are still experiencing problems with their other platforms.

We're investigating reports of an issue with Admin control panel / API. Thank you for your patience. This issue is affecting a significant subset of users.

Google Mail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future.

Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change.

The problems with Google Drive, Google Documents, Google Spreadsheets and Google Presentations should be resolved.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.

Google services hit by 'partial outage'

The search engine Google has confirmed that some of its services such as Gmail and Google Drive are not working due to a technical fault.

Users took to Twitter to complain that their smart phone and emails were not working properly.

In a statement the company said that six of its thirteen applications were experiencing "some partial disruption".
