A man and a woman found dead in a swimming pool at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Essex have been named at an inquest in Chelmsford as Kpakia Komba, 31, from Erith in Kent, and Josephine Newahun Foday, 22, from London.

Essex Police have said the post-mortem examinations of two hotel guests found dead in a swimming pool at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath, Essex, will take place tomorrow.

Police say they are treating the man and woman's deaths as "unexplained" and are not looking for anyone in connection with the deaths.

Essex Police have said the man and woman found dead in a hotel swimming pool at Hatfield Heath were staying there together.

Chief Inspector Nick Lee confirmed police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

"As part of the investigation we are trying to focus on what the relationship was between the victims

"It's a very busy hotel, there were a number of functions going on.

"At the moment we haven't ascertained as to whether these individuals were part of any function or not."

Police 'not looking for anyone' after hotel guests die

Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths of two guests at a luxury hotel in Essex.

A police spokesperson said they are appealing for eyewitnesses to come forward.

He confirmed that several different functions were being held at the Down Hall Country House Hotel, but declined to confirm which event if any the two deceased guests were attending.

Detectives are investigating the deaths of two guests at a hotel at Hatfield Heath near Bishop's Stortford. Officers were called to Down Hall Country House Hotel in Matching Road at about 7.35pm on Saturday April 27 after a man and a woman had been found under water in the hotel’s swimming pool.

Hotel staff and ambulance crews tried in vain to revive them but both were later pronounced dead at the scene. The deaths are being treated as unexplained. The man, in his 30s and the woman, in her 20s, are believed to be from London. Post mortem examinations are to be carried out tomorrow.

The Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath, Essex, describes itself as one of England's most established country house hotels.

Near Bishop's Stortford on the Hertfordshire and Essex border, it is 45 minutes from central London and also handy for Stansted Airport.

Dating back to 1322, the Italianate mansion offers an historic setting, with luxury interiors and ornate ceilings.

There are 110 acres of grounds. The hotel was hosting weddings, birthday parties and christenings this weekend.

Police are investigating the deaths of two guests at the Down Hall County House Hotel near Bishop's Stortford, after a man and a woman were found underwater at the hotel's swimming pool last night.

Hotel staff and ambulance crews tried to revive them but both were later pronounced dead at the scene.

The hotel is one of the most exclusive venues in Hertfordshire and Essex, and was the location for the wedding of reality TV star Jade Goody and Jack Tweed in 2009.
