North Yorkshire police confirmed that a 73-year-old man was arrested in Kingston Upon Thames on April 26.

Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck has been arrested over an alleged child sex assault, ITV News understands.

North Yorkshire police confirmed that a 73-year-old man was arrested in Kingston Upon Thames on April 26 and bailed pending further enquiries.

The arrest relates to an incident that occurred in the late 1970s, when the alleged victim was a young boy, and follows information passed to North Yorkshire Police by Metropolitan Police officers working on Operation Yewtree.

A 73-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a historic child sex abuse investigation in Harrogate, North Yorkshire Police confirmed. The complaint relates to an incident that occurred in the late 1970s when the male victim was a child. In a statement, police said:

The man was arrested in Kingston Upon Thames on Friday 26 April 2013.

Following questioning, he was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The arrest follows information passed to North Yorkshire Police by Metropolitan Police officers working on Operation Yewtree.
