A zoo worker who was injured in a tiger attack at an animal park in Dalton-in-Furness has died, Cumbria Police said today.
Police identified the 24 year old woman as Sarah McClay, from the Barrow area. She was taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital yesterday afternoon following the attack.
A zoo worker has been seriously injured in a tiger attack at an animal park, Cumbria Police said.
The 24-year-old woman was in the tiger's enclosure when she was mauled by the animal at South Lakes Wild Animal Park in Dalton-in-Furness.
The woman, who has yet to be named, was taken by ambulance to Preston Royal Infirmary.
The wildlife park closed early after the attack and all visitors have left the park.
Cumbria Police, which is investigating, said: "The tiger is securely locked in its enclosure and there is no further risk to the public.
"Members of the public were not at any risk during the incident".
