Queen visits Duke in hospital

The Queen has visited the Duke of Edinburgh in hospital on her official birthday. Prince Charles said yesterday Prince Philip was "much better".

Duke set for two-month 'period of convalescence'

Buckingham Palace said today the Duke of Edinburgh was "comfortable and in good spirits" and would likely take a two-month "period of convalescence" when he leaves hospital.

A statement said:

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh is progressing according to plans at this early stage. He is comfortable and in good spirits.

He will remain in hospital for up to two weeks, and it is expected he will then be taking a period of convalescence of approximately two months.

Gun salutes mark Prince Philip's 92nd birthday

A 41-round Royal Salute by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery took place in Green Park at noon today to mark the Duke of Edinburgh's birthday .

There will also be a 62-round salute at 1pm by the Honourable Artillery Company at the Tower of London.
