Michael Cope made a one-minute appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court today, charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Linzi Ashton.
The 28-year-old was told the matter was too serious to be heard before magistrates and the case was adjourned until tomorrow, when he will appear at Manchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
A man will appear in court later charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Mother-of-two Linzi Ashton, 25, was discovered with multiple injuries at her home in Winton, Salford, on June 29.
Michael Cope, 28, was arrested on Friday night at an address in Leigh, Greater Manchester.
Cope, of no fixed address, is also charged with separate offences of rape and assault.
