The family of Erika Kacicova, the 13-year-old found in Bradford a week after going missing from her home in Sheffield, thanked the police and public for their help in searching for her.

Police: 'Huge sense of relief' after finding missing teen

South Yorkshire Police Detective Inspector Helen Tate said she felt a "huge sense of relief" after finding missing Erika Kacicova in Bradford city centre.

She added that she could not say what has happened to the 13-year-old over the last week and confirmed that four men and one woman from Bradford are in custody on suspicion of child abduction.

Det Insp Tate added she was "overwhelmed" by the public's response to the appeals and said Erika had not seen her family yet, but they had been informed of her discovery.

Missing teen in care of police officers in Bradford

The family of missing teenager Erika Kacicova, who has been found "safe and well" in Bradford today, have been told she is in the care of police officers, South Yorkshire Police said.

Detective Inspector Helen Tate added:

It’s fantastic news that we now have Erika, safe and well and a successful conclusion to the search for Erika.

Our primary aim now is to concentrate on Erika’s wellbeing and begin to piece together her movements since she left home last Monday.

We are working with local authority and partner agencies for the appropriate support for Erika and to assist with the investigation.

I have personally been overwhelmed by the way the public and the media have responded to our appeals and I am extremely grateful for their help and support throughout this investigation.

Police's Slovak appeal in bid to find missing teen

Police searching for missing 13-year-old Erika Kacicova have released a YouTube appeal in her native language Slovak in a bid to find her.

South Yorkshire Police are concerned the appeals to find Erika may not have been heard by people who speak Slovak.

The search for the missing teenager has now entered its second week with a 37-year-old man arrested today on suspicion of child abduction.

South Yorkshire Police have said they believe a man arrested overnight on suspicion of child abduction may have had contact with 13-year-old Erika Kacicova since she went missing.

Detective Inspector Helen Tate told reporters: "The arrested man is known to Erika, and is someone I feel has had contact with Erika in the last 48-96 hours."
