A neighbour has described how he tried to stop a savage dog attack on a teenager.
The man, who does not want to be identified, said he had never seen anything like it before:
Police were called to an address on Frank Street, in the Little Horton area of Bradford, at 7.26pm yesterday and had to shoot the animal so paramedics could treat the boy.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said:
A 13-year-old is continuing to fight for his life after being attacked by a dog at a house in Bradford. It's understood the teenager had been visiting his cousin at the property in Frank Street, Little Horton on Sunday evening when he was attacked.
Police marksmen killed the dog so they could get to the terrified teenager.

It's believed the youngster was dragged downstairs by the animal, which neighbours say was a Bull Dog which had been given to the family two or three days ago.
Police shot the dog dead so they could get to the terrified boy who is in a critical condition at Leeds General Infirmary.
