At least four abseilers were seen descending from the room of Basel's St Jakob Park stadium with a banner protesting against Arctic oil drilling by Russian energy firm Gazprom.
At least four Greenpeace abseilers accompanied the banner.
Schalke, the German team playing against Basel, display the Gazprom sponsor on the chest of their playing shirts.

A Greenpeace protest has halted a Champions League match between Basel and Schalke in Switzerland.
Protesters abseiled from the roof of the St. Jakob Park stadium and unveiled a banner aimed at Russian energy firm Gazprom, which sponsors the tournament.
