Man charged over Leicester fire

A 22-year-old man has become the eighth person to be charged with the murders of Shehnila Taufiq, her daughter Zainab, and sons Bilal and Jamil in a house fire in Leicester, last month. Earlier, thousands attended a memorial service for the victims.

Man charged over Leicester house fire

Detectives investigating a fatal house fire in Wood Hill have tonight charged a 22-year-old man in connection with the incident.

The man has been charged with four counts of murder following a fire which killed Shehnila Taufiq, her daughter and two sons in Wood Hill in September.

The man is due to appear before Leicester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Thousands mourn Leicester house fire victims

Thousands of mourners attended a memorial service for the victims of the Leicester house fire in which a mother and her three children were killed last month.

Shehnila Taufiq, her daughter Zainab, and sons Bilal and Jamil died in their home on 13th September.

The father said he was not angry, but that he would "continue the work that my wife and my children have left for me."

Seven men have been charged with murder.

Thousands attend Leicester house fire memorial

Thousands of mourners have turned out for a memorial service for the victims of the house fire in Wood Hill, Leicester.

Memorial prayers have been held since 4pm in Spinney Hill Park to honour mother Shehnila Taufiq, her daughter Zainab, and sons Bilal and Jamil, who were killed in the fire at their home last month.

The father, Neurosurgeon Dr Muhammad Taufiq Al Sattar, told ITV News Midlands he was reluctant to return to the scene of the fire.
