Pop star Miley Cyrus has stirred up more controversy - by lighting up a suspicious looking cigarette on stage at the MTV European Music Awards (EMA) in Amsterdam.
The star, who came under fire for provocative performance at the Video Music Awards in September, pulled the hand rolled cigarette out of her purse after accepting the Best Video Award from Ron Burgundy.
While the contents of the cigarette are not known, the former Disney star previously told Rolling Stone magazine marijuana was "the best drug on earth".
Marijuana is not legal in the Netherlands, but smokers cannot be prosecuted for possession of small amounts and it is sold openly in special cafes known as "coffee shops."
Katy Perry stole the show at the European Music Awards (EMA) by performing in a jewelled body suit and dangling in a harness.
Katy took home the Best Female award but lost Best Pop to One Direction.

British Songstress Ellie Goulding also flashed some flesh in a black lace Dolce and Gabbana dress, while US singer Katy Perry arrived at the Ziggo Dome in a more demure mint green dress.
