Police investigating a body found in a well in Surrey have established that the victim was bound up before being place in the well by a third party around two years ago.
Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons, who leads the investigation, revealed:
A man whose body was found in a well had been assaulted, police said last night.
An initial post mortem examination did not prove conclusive in providing a cause of death and further tests will be carried out, Scotland Yard said.
However, the examination did reveal injuries consistent with an assault, a spokesman added.
Seven men aged between 21 and 27 who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed to a date in late December, pending further investigation.
A teenage boy who found a body in a garden well has described the moment he saw an "adult male" covered in tarpaulin as he cleared up outside of a house in an affluent area of Surrey.
