Child killer Theresa Riggi found dead in psychiatric hospital

A woman who killed her three children in Edinburgh in 2010 has been found dead at a secure psychiatric hospital in Nottinghamshire, ITV News understands. Californian Theresa Riggi, 49, admitted the killings on grounds of diminished responsibility.

The bloodstained bodies of Theresa Riggi's children were discovered lying side by side in their Edinburgh property following a gas explosion at the building, each with eight stab wounds.

She was moved from the all-female Cornton Vale Prison, near Stirling, after a string of alleged attacks in 2011.

The US-born Riggi was found dead at Rampton Secure Hospital in Nottinghamshire today.

Californian Theresa Riggi, now 50, admitted killing her three children Austin, 8, Luke, 8, and Cecilia, 5, on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Her 2011 trial heard that she suffered from narcissistic, paranoid and hysterical personality disorders.
