The United Nations has predicted that prosperity in rapidly-developing economies such as China and India is likely to put the price of food up for a decade.
Although millions have benefitted from India’s economic growth, it is also home to some of the world's poorest people, who can now no longer afford to eat.
To meet the needs of its growing population, the Indian Government has banned rice exports, which has further effects on world rice prices.
