New interactive map shows where the Blitz bombs fell

A new project gives modern Londoners the chance to see the impact of the Second World War on their area.

Census information between October 1940 and June 1941, previously only available to view in the Reading Room at The National Archives, has been mapped on to modern London showing where the bombs fell during the Blitz.

The Bomb Sight project, put together by the University of Portsmouth makes the maps available to citizen researchers, academics and students who are able to explore where the bombs fell and find photographs from the period.
