The veteran actor and adventurer Brian Blessed has suggested that people attempting to climb Mount Everest should be banned from carrying oxygen.
Speaking on the 60th anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's successful attempt, he said that modern climbers are "diminishing the adventure with oxygen".
Blessed, who has already made three attempts to climb the mountain without oxygen, also vowed to try again in the next two years.
Now at the age of 76, he said: "I feel that if I can go up there as an old man it would be a new development, something new.
"I love adventure, she is a beautiful mountain, and I think she will allow me to go on to her summit as a very old man."
