Three musicians are looking to follow in the footsteps of Adele by winning the Critics' Choice honour at the Brit Awards - but who are they?
Emeli Sande and Ben Howard did the double at the 2013 Brit Awards, winning two awards each, including best British male and female.
The UK's biggest night in music will be celebrated this evening as the Brit Awards come to London's O2 Arena.
Ben Howard has won best British male and best breakthrough act at the Brit Awards.
As he collected his first award, he said: "I'm not very good at speeches. I'm not very good at dancing."
He also thanked his mother, saying, "She's rung a lot of old friends to ask them to vote for this."
The singer, who looked taken aback by his second win, said: "This is bizarre, isn't it? I didn't really expect it. I'm quite stoked to even come to the awards, so to come away with two of these is amazing."
After Mumford & Sons picked up the prize for best British group at the Brit Awards, frontman Marcus Mumford said:
Thanks very much indeed. We weren't expecting that. I don't think we've really taken the opportunity to thank people who have come to our gigs.
"We were in a group with Muse and One Direction, so it's a surprise.
Lana Del Rey has been named best international female at the Brit Awards. The award was presented by Dermot O'Leary and Sharon Osborne.
Singer-songwriter Tom Odell has won the Critics Choice award at this year's Brit Awards.
Ben Howard has won best British male at the Brit Awards. It followed his earlier award as best British breakthrough act.
The award was presented by Ed Sheeran.

After winning her Brit Award for best British female, Emeli Sande tweeted:
Taylor Swift presented the Best British Female Artist award at the Brit Awards, which was won by Emili Sande.
Ben Howard has won best breakthrough act at the Brit Awards at London's 02 Arena.
Howard had found little mainstream success until his inclusion on the Mercury Music Prize shortlist last year.
But it has helped him to gain wider recognition and he has gone on to reach number six in the album charts with debut release Every Kingdom.
Mumford & Sons has won best British group at the 2013 Brits Awards.
