Harlequins are confident that Danny Care will recover from his stomach muscle injury in time for England's tour to Argentina.

Care has been ruled out of Saturday's finale to the Aviva Premiership season at Northampton because of an oblique problem sustained against Wasps eight days earlier.

The Quins captain lasted only 24 minutes against the league leaders before being replaced, but he should be fit in time to face the Pumas over two Tests next month.

"Danny is expected to make a full recovery ahead of England's tour to Argentina," a club statement read.

Quins announced that their 28-year-old captain had committed his "long-term future" to the club.

Care has won 53 caps and made more than 180 appearances for Quins since joining them in 2006.

"The re-signing process was done very quickly as there was never any doubt in my mind to go anywhere else," Care said.

"I love being here, I am part of a great group of people and I'm really excited to have pledged my commitment to the club for the next few years."
