Idris Elba jokes about new James Bond rumours

Idris Elba has jokingly responded to rumours which emerged from the Sony hacking story putting him in the frame as the new James Bond.

The leaked Sony Pictures Entertainment emails sparked speculation as one message reportedly from chairman Amy Pascal read: "Idris should be the next Bond."

Elba has previously not commented on the story or the views of some commentators that Bond should not be played by a black actor.

Idris Elba arrives at premiere of Nelson Mandela film

British actor Idris Elba has arrived at the London premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

The 41-year-old stars as Nelson Mandela in the story of the former South African president's upbringing and subsequent 27-year imprisonment.

The film, which also stars British actress Naomie Harris as Mandela's ex-wife Winnie, is due to be released on January 3 2014 in the UK.

Idris Elba joined Winnie Mandela, the ex-wife of former South African president Nelson Mandela, and her daughter Zindzi Mandela, at the premiere of Long Walk to Freedom in Johannesberg.

Elba plays Nelson Mandela in the film which is expected to be released in the UK on January 3.
